Description

The DBEP shear pin load cell design is suitable for the measurement of tensile and compressive forces across a huge range of process monitoring, offshore, civil engineering, industrial, marine and crane/lifting applications.

All of our pin load cells are manufactured from stainless steel and sealed to IP67 as standard to ensure that they are able to stand up to the tough conditions that are commonplace in a typical industrial, marine or offshore application.  We also manufacture custom versions in aluminium alloy, super-duplex stainless steel and titanium where application conditions demand.

We can readily modify any shear pin load cell to make it fully submersible in sea water to depths of 6500 metres or more, and we can also integrate either analogue or digital signal conditioning to provide an output compatible with any existing monitoring or control system.

We offer a range of standard-size pin load cells, although in the vast majority of cases we will design a customised shear pin load cell to be used as a direct replacement for an existing non-load measuring pin, or to meet an exact customer specification.

You can use our Shear Pin Load Cell Enquiry Form if you would like to enquire about the design and manufacture of a custom pin load cell, or alternatively call us on 01189 817339 to discuss your application.

The most critical element of the control system is the load transducer pin, it performed flawlessly,

Creating 1000 Times More Power with Submersible Load Measuring Pins

Deep Green Submersible Load Pin Application

The measuring device needed to withstand permanent underwater submersion. “Our load measuring pin’s stainless steel construction and ability to be customised to IP68 submersion rating made this the ideal choice for use in Deep Green’s control system”, explains Ollie Morcom, Applied Measurements’ Sales Director.

Our Shear Pin Load Cells and Draw Wire Sensors Deliver Flawless Results in Sub-Zero Temperatures

Antarctic Deep Ice Core Drilling Application

Applied Measurements were contacted by Victoria University of Wellington to provide reliable and accurate equipment that could operate in the sub-zero temperatures of the Antarctic. Using Applied Measurements’ two customised DBEP shear pin load cells, a WS12 draw wire sensor and four intuitive2 displays, the RICE team were able to successfully extract a 763m deep ice core from an ice cap on Roosevelt Island.

Load Pins and Position Sensors used for Antarctic Research

Applied Measurements needed to design and manufacture a pair of custom load pins for the university that could compensate for temperatures as low as -30degC. The load pin also had a built in ICA4S amplifier that could give a 4-20mA output for them to use to monitor the drilling forces.
