The new Pa993D SDI-12 submersible depth sensor uses an SDI-12 v1.4 communication protocol, comes in capacities of 0-1mWG up to 0-100mWG and can perform complex linearisation and calibrations, all thanks to its embedded 16-bit microprocessor. Here’s why we think it would benefit you.
What is SDI-12 protocol?
SDI-12 stands for serial data interface at 1200 baud. It is a standard communication protocol for interfacing intelligent microprocessor sensors to a data logger.
Benefits of the Pa993D SDI-12 submersible depth sensor:
- Enables Complex On-Site Calibrations
- Low Power Consumption: <4mA – Ideal for Battery or Solar-Powered Applications
- Low System Cost
- Interchangeable Sensors – Reduce Costly Downtime
- Easy Multiple Sensor Setup
- Compact Ø23mm
- Level and Temperature Readings as Standard
- Accuracy <±0.15%/FS (Optional 0.1% and 0.06% Versions)
- Read the Spec
Embedded 16-bit microprocessor guarantees high accuracy
The Pa993D SDI-12 submersible depth sensor has a built-in 16-bit microprocessor which enables it to perform complex high-level linearisation, temperature compensation plus self-calibrations via the SDI-12 communication protocol. Plus, the integrated temperature sensor also offers built-in density correction, all of which delivers optimum stability and ensures a high accuracy of less than ±0.15% full scale (0.1% and 0.06% optional).
As the embedded microprocessor inside the depth sensor controls the SDI-12 interface, it can accept instructions from a datalogger, perform the measurements and complex calculations, then transfer the data back to the datalogger via the SDI-12 communication protocol.
Interchangeable sensors and simple multi-sensor setups
Thanks to this 2-way SDI-12 communication interface, SDI-12 sensors can be switched out without the need to reprogram the datalogger, saving your application costly downtime. Plus, up to nine Pa993D SDI-12 submersible depth sensors can be connected to a single datalogger, giving you a simple and low-cost, multi-sensor setup.
Low power consumption
The Pa993D SDI-12 submersible depth sensor is ideal for battery-powered and solar-powered applications as it can operate on as low as a 6Vdc supply. Its low power consumption means it can operate unattended and for long periods of time.
Submersible to 10bar / 100m depth
Its 316 stainless steel silicon element, with choice of seals, plus its waterproof moulded cable assembly guarantees the sensor’s high integrity to 100m depth. This IP68 submersible rating makes it ideal for continuous operation in rivers, reservoirs and borehole applications where the sensor will be needed to operate reliably underwater on a long-term basis.
In addition, the Pa993D SDI-12 submersible depth sensor has a built-in surge protection circuit to moderate the effects of electrical transients caused by nearby lightning strikes and power supply fluctuations.
Ideal applications of the SDI-12 depth sensor
The Pa993D SDI-12 has a compact diameter of only 23mm making it ideal for V-notch weir flow measurements. Plus, its high accuracy and optional 0.1% or 0.06% higher accuracy makes it a front runner in laboratory & research testing.
