Applied Measurements specialises in the design and manufacture of custom load cells, fit-for-fit and direct replacement load cells, retrofit load cells, force sensors, multi-axis sensors and static torque transducers. The customisation can be as minimal as a change in cable length or as major as a completely new design.
Our on-site team of engineers have been designing bespoke load cells and systems for over 25 years. We can design and manufacture one-off load cells to high volume batch production. The design and manufacture is all carried out on-site by our expert team. We use the latest computer aided design software (CAD) to ensure easy modification and analysis of the design before production. Please see our Custom Load Cell Design Services page for more details.
Markets that we have developed custom load cells and sensors for include, medical, renewable energy, automotive, construction, machine builders and geotechnical research.
Examples of our Load Cell Design Service
LowStir Friction Stir Welding System with Custom Dataloging and Monitoring Software
A multi-axis LOWSTIR device measuring several forces and moments, temperature and speed whilst rotating at up to 3000rpm. This device also included a blue tooth data transmission system coupled with custom monitoring and data acquisition software. Read the full LOWSTIR article here.
Permanently Submersible Application – Converting Ocean Currents into Electricity
Our expert team designed and manufactured a permanently submersible DBEP load pin and DSCC pancake load cell to Minesto’s Deep Green underwater kite assembly. The load pins had to match the customer’s exact dimensions, weight and be fully submersible for long-term use underwater. The pancake load cell was fully customised to their custom dimensions, threads, mounting holes and submersible protection rating. Read the full case study.
